On the afternoon of January 12, Chen Jianguang, Deputy General Manager and member of the Party Leadership Group of China Minmetals, Secretary of the Party Committee of MCC, and Chairman of MCC and China MCC, met with Mohamed Muizzu, President of the Maldives at Diaoyutai State Guesthouse in Beijing. The two sides had in-depth discussions and exchanges on cooperation in fields such as infrastructure construction, real estate development, and ecological and environmental protection.
Chen Jianguang said that as the largest and strongest metallurgical construction contractor and metallurgical enterprise operation service provider in the world, MCC has successfully achieved transformation in recent years by virtue of its professional and technical advantages and business qualification advantages accumulated in the field of iron and steel metallurgy. Mohamed Muizzu said that the Maldives was one of the first countries to sign a cooperation document with China to jointly build the "Belt and Road". President Xi Jinping's visit to the Maldives in 2014 opened a new chapter in China-Maldives cooperation. Since then, Chinese enterprises have extensively participated in a series of cooperation projects such as housing, new energy, power grid, office building, and garbage disposal in the Maldives. MCC is welcome to actively participate in the next five-year plan of the Maldives and increase the development and investment in areas including affordable housing, airport expansion, green energy, and fishery, to achieve mutual benefit and win-win results at a higher level. MCC is sincerely invited to invest in the Maldives to jointly promote the high-quality development of the "Belt and Road".
